Spring 2007 News

Well the hard work of the winter is now really paying dividends March and April have seen some of our most spectacular sport ever: here are some highlights of this year’s very warm spring.

Pines
Tench Crucians and skimmers plus some huge Roach have proved to tickle a few people’s fancies: 100lb bags have been quite common.

Neil Dudsbury from Nottingham fishing peg 28 not a favourite put together this fantastic 105lb bag of skimmers and Crucians, corn and a little pellet at 3 metres was the successful method.

Neil also attacked Tanners peg 9 for a terrific 161lbs of 4-6lb mirror on the bomb.

Both of these pictures have been carefully taken on a ground sheet. Neil abided by our keep net rule which is 65lb max in a carp net and 50lb in a silver net. (You now seriously need 3 carp nets and silver net)

Steve Hamon (Exeter) with 80lb of pristine Pines babies.

Mick Purchase (Barnstable) fished banded pellet and found “Gold” on peg 13 – 70lbs+ of tench. (pic 8)
Ian Walsgrove a “Heartbreaker” enjoys 80lb++ on Pines.
Gordon Smiths Holiday Bonanza
Gordon regularly visits at Exeter with his family; this Easter was a little special. He managed to win the Sunday open with 129lbs and snatch a golden peg worth £365.00.

He also won the residents with 179lbs from Tanners peg 6; His total weight of fish for the week was just short of a 1000lbs!!!!!
Terry Hill from Nottingham did a pleasure 200lbs+ off 27 tanners and followed it up the next day with 205lbs, during the residents match to clinch victory and a place in the executive club.

Tony Rixon joins Terry with 208lbs winning the Sunday open from peg 1 Tanners on the waggler.
Tanners Huge Weights
The extreme weather during April really helped the Carp to feed our so simple round 10 was just awesome an average of 84lbs per man.

Beatties
The specimen lake now boasts 300 doubles (we are still moving 10+ plus daily from Tanners across).

John Read from Essex plundered 40 doubles during his stay including 2 terrific 20’s.

John Pryer, what a beauty! from the beach swim 23lbs.

Andrew Hussen travelled from Cornwall for this gorgeous 23.5 lb mirror.

Paul Dunne also from Cornwall fished his favourite summerhouse swim and beached 45 good fish plus an immaculate 24lb carp and a 17½lb for young Tyler.

Steve Birgess with a gorgeous 26lb mirror in horrendous conditions.

New Lodge - HOLLYWOOD
The foundations have been completed for our next lodge; virtually in the lake on Tanners this amazing position and an even more luxurious interior including spa bath and plasma TV should prove to be very popular.
